Investigated the extent to which social pressure from a majority group could affect a person to conform.

• About 1/3 (32%) of participants conformed to the clearly incorrect majority.
• Conformity peaks at about 3-4 confederates; adding more doesn't increase conformity.
• If even one confederate dissents (gives the right answer), conformity drops dramatically.
